Wentworth-Douglass Awards Training Grant to Dover Fire & Rescue

The Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Board of Trustees recently approved a $30,000 restricted community benefit grant to aid in the continued support and advancement of Dover Fire & Rescue’s Quality Assurance and Improvement Program. The grant will fund necessary training and education to help the department’s staff be better prepared to manage and treat all types of medical emergencies in the community.

Dover Fire & Rescue has used previous grants from Wentworth-Douglass to provide assistance and trainings to help its 55 employees meet re-certification requirements. The current grant funding will support a variety of initiatives, including monthly EMS trainings on topics ranging from pediatric, seizure and diabetic emergencies, to trauma triage, and caring for at-risk populations and those with special healthcare needs.

Additionally, the funding will be used to run specialized trainings on the use of video laryngoscopes and CPR assist devices in conjunction with Wentworth-Douglass’s advanced medical Simulation Center.
