DOVER, NH – Exeter Health Resources, Massachusetts General Hospital and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital recently began exploring opportunities to develop a new regional network to collaboratively deliver health care within the Seacoast region. Wentworth-Douglass is holding a forum on Tuesday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m., to offer community members the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions about this proposal.
In the proposed plan, Wentworth-Douglass, Exeter Health Resources, and Mass General hope to collaborate to develop a new regional model of care to strengthen, enhance and grow services that make sense for the communities that these hospitals serve. A new regional non-profit corporation would be developed to serve as the parent to Exeter Health Resources and Wentworth-Douglass. The new corporation will be a subsidiary of Mass General.
This new regional network will enhance the care provided by creating a combined regional delivery system. As part of the process, the hospitals will look at ways to support a shared vision of developing programs and services to best meet the needs of the Seacoast community while providing care in a cost-effective, coordinated and sustainable manner.
Since announcing their plans in May, the hospitals have moved into the due diligence phase and are working collaboratively to negotiate and develop a Definitive Agreement, which is subject to review by regulatory officials. The due diligence and regulatory process is expected to take 15-18 months to complete.
At the Community Forum, leadership from all three organizations will share the vision for this regional network and hear feedback from community members. No registration is necessary to attend.
