For the sixth straight year, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has earned the Healthgrades 2019 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This honors Wentworth-Douglass as being part of the top 15 percent of hospitals across the United States, as according to Healthgrades, a leading online source for information about physicians and hospitals.
Wentworth-Douglass is one of only 434 hospitals nationwide – one of only three in New Hampshire – to receive the Healthgrades 2019 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. Wentworth-Douglass is the only New Hampshire hospital to be awarded this distinction 6 years in a row.
Healthgrades evaluates hospitals which submit 100 or more patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which are then aggregated into nine patient experience measures. A score is given to each hospital based on the responses from patients in their surveys, and the hospitals with scores in the top 15 percent are chosen to receive the award.
“I am humbled by the many accolades Wentworth-Douglass received in recognition of its high quality and patient satisfaction,” says Greg Walker, President and CEO of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. “This speaks to both the compassion and competence that are at our very core.”
The criteria for the award ranged from cleanliness, to quietness, to likelihood to recommend the hospital to a family member or friend. To be eligible for the award, a hospital must also be in the top 80 percent of hospitals nationwide for clinical quality, as determined by an evaluation of Medicare data by Healthgrades.
In addition to the Healthgrades award, Wentworth-Douglass also recently received a five-star quality ranking from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and “A” rating in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. As well as these accomplishments, the hospital also achieved Magnet® Recognition in 2016, which is the nation’s highest honor for excellence in nursing.
