WMUR’s Cherise Leclerc to Join Wentworth-Douglass Hospital

One of WMUR’s most recognizable faces is leaving television to join Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.
Anchor/Reporter Cherise Leclerc, who anchors the station’s weekend newscasts, will join the Community Relations department at Wentworth-Douglass as a Communications, Public Relations, and Social Media Specialist.

“I’m looking forward to using what I’ve learned over the past 10 years in journalism and adapting it to tell the stories, and share the mission, of the talented staff of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital,” Leclerc said.
Leclerc spent five years at the ABC-affiliate, covering countless news items across the state, including the New Hampshire presidential primary, the COVID-19 pandemic, and a myriad of breaking news and community events.

In her new role, she will assist in developing and coordinating the hospital’s strategic internal and external communications efforts. Leclerc will also fulfill a wide variety of communications, media relations, and social media needs.

“Wentworth-Douglass is one of the Seacoast’s most respected institutions, so who better to help tell our story that one of our state’s most respected journalists,” said Adam Bagni, Director of Communications and Community Relations at Wentworth-Douglass. “Her communications expertise, along with her strong relationships with local community stakeholders, will really help us share, grow, and enhance awareness of the services and accomplishments of our extraordinary organization.”

Leclerc has been very active in the community, and been involved in numerous engagements and fundraising efforts with the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, NH Food Bank, YMCA, and many others.

Leclerc previously worked at WGGB/WSHM in Springfield, MA as a weekday evening anchor, reporting on notable events like the 2011 tornado and the Boston Marathon Bombing. She’s been honored by BusinessWest Magazine as a recipient of their Top 40 Under Forty and Western Mass Women’s Magazine’s Top Television Personality to Watch. She’s also received both an Edward R. Murrow Award and honors from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association.

She will begin her new post on Monday, August 9th.
