"I started out as a candy striper in high school. I suppose health care was in my blood with a grandmother and mother who were nurses and a father who was a doctor. After nursing school, I worked in Medical-Surgical intensive care and visiting nursing before returning to school to get my master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). I am also a certified diabetes educator. I find it rewarding to work with patients with diabetes to help them incorporate treatment and management with education and support for people trying to live with diabetes in everyday life.
My study of yoga, eastern philosophy and mind-body medicine has influenced my interest in health, spirituality and integrative medicine. I am a 1,000-hour certified Kundalini yoga instructor and try to continue my daily exercise and meditation. When I am not at work, I enjoy time with my dog Bhakti, family and friends. I love to hike, garden, kayak, bike and do wood working, all of which help balance out the calories I get from loving to cook and go out to eat with friends. Movies, reading and time on the beach or water are my favorite down time activities. I love meeting new and different individuals, patients and helping them to stay healthy and happy."
