Custom Orthotics

Custom Orthotics

Just like prescription eyewear, custom-made orthotics are created specifically to fit the unique structure of your heel, arch, muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones in your feet, hands and wrist.

If you’re struggling with foot, ankle or heel pain, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome or a repetitive motion disorder - or have had complicated hand surgery - custom orthotics may be your best alternative. We’ll match the precise contours of your wrist, hand, or foot to help resolve abnormal movements or protect overstressed or healing joints and tendons.

Am I a good fit for custom orthotics?

Physicians recommend custom orthotics for patients with a wide range of conditions being treated by our rehab team.

Our team creates custom-made orthotics for the following conditions:

For the ankle and foot:

  • Plantar fasciitis or heel pain
  • Tendonitis (inflamed tendons)
  • Arthritis
  • High arches or flat feet
  • Neuromas

For the upper extremity:

  • Fractures of the elbow, forearm, wrist or hand
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tendonitis of the elbow, wrist or hand
  • Post-surgical procedures, including tendon repairs and joint replacement
  • Traumatic injuries

Customized for you

Once we have a prescription from your doctor, one of our occupational or physical therapists will complete a thorough analysis of your condition. For foot orthotics, your physical therapist will cast a three-dimensional molding of each foot before sending it to the lab for fabrication. Your orthotics can be designed to fit in dress shoes, athletic shoes, boots and even skates.

Hand, wrist or elbow orthotics are fabricated by your occupational therapist in our Hand Clinic. Our custom orthotics are made with comfortable thermoplastic materials using the latest fabrication technologies. They are much less expensive than orthotics from other custom manufacturers and guaranteed to last for years.
