Bangor Savings Bank Grant Supports Cardiology Innovations

DOVER, NH - Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is happy to acknowledge a generous grant from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation. The two-year grant of $25,000 was awarded to support innovations in our cardiology program. Funds will be used to support our new PaceArt Optima System and will improve access to care and treatment for those with implanted cardiac devices.

“We are so grateful for the support from our community, and we thank the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation for stepping up and contributing to this important piece of our cardiology program,” says Greg Walker, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital President and CEO.

“This grant awarded by the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation to the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital signifies our commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve,” says Carol Colson, SVP, Director of Community and Media Relations at Bangor Savings Bank.

Currently, 700 patients at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital are benefiting from the new PaceArt Optima System. This system enhances our cardiologists’ ability to monitor and manage data being transmitted from implanted cardiac devices, such as pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators, which help to control irregular heartbeats in patients with heart rhythm disorders.

In addition to the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation grant, the hospital is fortunate to have many other philanthropic leaders in our community who raised $82,500 to help bring the latest cardiac care technology to Wentworth-Douglass.

“We’re interested in savings lives. And in supporting the hospital with these kind of technology improvements, we know we are helping with that,” say Richard and Jan Conley, who also made a generous donation toward the PaceArt Optima System.
