Newburyport Bank contributes $250,000 to Wentworth-Douglass Foundation

The Wentworth-Douglass Foundation has been awarded a $250,000 gift from Newburyport Bank to create the Women & Children’s Strategic Initiative Fund to support necessary investments in technology and services to assist Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in continuing to provide exceptional and timely care for families in the Seacoast.

This $250,000 gift will help Wentworth-Douglass Hospital transform newborn care and support families and children in the Seacoast as they navigate parenthood and beyond. As part of this generosity, a waiting area outside of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Women & Children’s Center is now officially named the Newburyport Bank Family Waiting Area in the Hospital’s Garrison Wing.

“Every life is precious. If our gift to the Wentworth-Douglass Foundation can save one baby’s life, then it is absolutely worth it. We look forward to growing our relationship with Wentworth-Douglass as we work together to help guide families through every stage of life. I am very proud that Newburyport Bank is associated with the Wentworth-Douglass Women & Children’s Center and I challenge other institutions to follow in our footsteps and set the example for the community to help those who are less fortunate.” says President & CEO of Newburyport Bank, Lloyd Hamm, Jr.

Through the Women & Children’s Strategic Initiative Fund, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital will bring obstetrical care available in the Seacoast to the next level through growth, development, and support of specialized and specific services. In addition, the Hospital will enhance the services of child life specialists and increase the availability of well-attended family education programs and new parent support groups. One of these new education programs will include a collaboratively developed Family Financial Literacy program hosted by Newburyport Bank.
