Small Gifts Bridge Big Gaps

Danny*, a one-year-old boy, and his parents hurried to the Wentworth-Douglass Emergency Department just the day after he had a routine checkup.  Danny was acting very strange, his parents were worried about him.  Upon evaluation, they found out that he had been experiencing seizures and he was then rushed in a helicopter to a tertiary hospital for care.  His concerned parents were left unsure of what to do: they couldn't follow Danny because they were both unemployed and without the financial ability to pay for gas, they were unable to make the journey.

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you and the quick thinking of the Social Work department at Wentworth-Douglass, Danny's parents were provided with gift cards to pay for the gas needed to drive their borrowed vehicle.  This gift meant that Danny's parents could give him the support and sense of safety he needed.  Thank you for making this possible!

This gift card for gas was provided through "Caring Bridge", a Social Work Services program providing small financial bridges to the most vulnerable patients and families in the care of the Wentworth-Douglass until they are able to access the appropriation community resources.

(*Danny's name was changed to respect his family's privacy)
