Post Trauma Issues

Trauma leaves a mark on the minds and bodies of those who survive it. No two traumas are exactly the same, but the effects they have on survivors can be predictable, and can include:

• difficulty sleeping
• nightmares
• intrusive thoughts of the incident
• reliving the incident

Dealing with the effects of trauma through therapy can help relieve some of these symptoms. Making sense of what happened, understanding the effects on one’s patterns of thought, and countering the body’s response to future stressors can all help shed the weight of past traumas.
