Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Earns “A” Grade for Safety

DOVER, NH Wentworth-Douglass Hospital earned an “A” grade for safety Monday by the Leapfrog Group, an independent, national not-for-profit watchdog organization.

The Leapfrog Group assigns letter grades, ranging from “A” to “F”, to general hospitals throughout the United States. The grades are based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.

“Our commitment to safety is embedded in the fabric of our Wentworth-Douglass’ culture”, said president and chief operating officer Darin Roark. “I'm deeply gratified in the tireless efforts of devoted staff, clinicians, physicians, and leadership team in caring for our patients each day. This recognition is a validation of their commitment to putting safety first."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. Safety Grade results are updated each fall and spring.

“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Wentworth-Douglass made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
