End of Shielding for All Ages

In order to provide the highest quality diagnostic exams at the lowest health risk, we will no longer place lead shields over you or child during an X-ray exam. This change in practice is based on many years of research which have shown that levels of radiation used in modern X-ray exams are so low that the risk of harm is very small or zero. These studies conclude that shields have no added benefit for patient safety. Studies have also shown that shielding patients carries the risk of using more radiation than not shielding and could cover a body part that the doctor needs to see. For patient safety, experts on X-ray radiation agree that patient shields should not be used.

Request For Images On CD

To obtain a copy of your Imaging study, please contact the Imaging Services File Room at (603) 740-2588. Please allow 48 hours to fulfill the request. All Imaging CD requests will be available for pick up at the Medical Information Department located at 121 Broadway, Dover, NH 03820. 

You may also download the CD Request form and fax the request to us.

If your physician requests that Wentworth-Douglass Imaging Services mail a copy of your images to his/her office, please note that the CDs are encrypted in order to protect personal health information. Once physicians receive the encrypted CDs, they are directed to contact the Imaging Services File Room to obtain the passcode. 
 
For Providers: If you have any difficulty importing WDH patient images into your PACS system, you may contact Datcard at (949) 932-1300 from 800 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
