Bike/Walk to Work Day
“Alzheimer’s risk reduction, cancer risk reduction, stroke and heart attack risk reduction, pollution reduction, global warming prevention … All of this just from an enjoyable daily walk or bike to work!” says Mark Berman, MD, of Bellamy Health Center.
“Walking meditation is a practice that is thousands of years old, conferring all the benefits of meditation done sitting or lying down – decreased stress, greater resilience, and greater mental clarity. While slow, gentle movement is often associated with mindfulness and meditation, any rhythmic and repetitive exercise is a type of meditation. Try walking or biking to work – you can have your cardio, and mental calmness too!” says Holly L. Roche, MS, LMT, Integrative Therapies.
