Career Development
Careers
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital encourages employees to grow in their positions, expanding their skills and experiences in order to meet long-term goals.
Take charge of your own development
Compare your career path with your strengths and opportunities and discuss your current knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as past experiences, accomplishments and interests. Where should you put your development energies and efforts?
Some employees get help from trusted colleagues, or decide to speak with a manager or with human resources. Others rely on advice from a spouse, friend or professional counselor as they choose a path and develop a plan.
Talk to your supervisor
During your regular next touch base, your bi-annual Focus Review or your Annual Performance evaluation, you have the opportunity to discuss your development goals and ideas with your supervisor. Get some practical feedback about where you stand and how much potential others see in you. Look for opportunities to take on new challenges, run special projects, join a new initiative.
