What is your official job title?

I am an LNA.

How long have you worked here?

I have worked at WDH since December 2021.

Please describe your typical day and responsibilities.

The tasks of a nurse assistant vary from unit to unit, but the core job consists of attending to patient needs such as bathing, toileting, eating, and to be sure that each patient is comfortable as well. Also, alerting the RN to any changes in vitals, blood glucose levels, pain. I work on a med-surg unit which also predominantly has elective orthopedic surgeries. Following up with the orthopedic surgeon’s orders of post-op ambulation is something that I, as an LNA, am responsible for.

Why did you choose to come to WDH?

I have worked as an orthopedic nurse assistant for five years in another hospital system prior to coming to WDH. However, it was an opportunity I could not pass up to expand that practice.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

It seems simple but I enjoy the fact that the staff and management are happy.

How would you describe your work experience at WDH?

I look forward to coming to work. I am not anxious at the beginning of my shift and my eyes are no longer twitching when the shift is over.

What would you say to someone who is considering applying to work here?

If it’s your first acute care job, it is the best one. If you are seasoned, then it will be surreal. ( I am not exaggerating)

What is your favorite part of your job?

Starbucks in the lobby. Seriously though, I am a dad, with lots of corny jokes... I love it when I can put a smile on someone's face. Especially a doctor...it’s an honor to see them smile.

Bonus Questions

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I still have not figured that out. But I do dream of owning a toy store, like Mr. Magorium.

What qualities do you admire most in a person?

Honesty, open to learning, knows when to offer a shoulder rather than a word.

What is your favorite band and/or favorite song of all time?

“Baby, Baby” by Amy Grant.

Can you play any musical instruments?

Guitar and piano...wish I were better.

What is your proudest moment?

After having moved 14 times in 14 years, having been able to purchase a house. I put a hole in the wall next to the garage door and I framed it. Why? Because it’s mine.

What makes you laugh the most?

Stupid dad jokes.
