What is your official job title?

Clinical Lead, The Center for Weight Management

How long have you worked here?

I have been with the Center for Weight Management for 3 years and with Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for 5 ½ years.

Please describe your typical day and responsibilities.

My typical day is like so many. Patient care, rooming, phone calls, inbox, faxes, lab work, ordering supplies, mentoring co-workers, helping train new employees. All aspects of a busy growing practice.

Why did you choose to come to WDH?

WDH has an outstanding reputation in the communities it serves and for the care they offer patients throughout the organization. However, one of the greatest things was the reputation they have for how they treat and value their employees.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

Feeling like part of a community. Being a part of an organization where I feel valued, respected, heard, and appreciated. I have been able to grow in my role and career and help bring recognition to others in my profession.

How would you describe your work experience at WDH?

Amazing! I truly love where I work. The smiles we share as we pass each other in the hallway speaks volumes for the inherent culture that runs through all aspects of WDH. I was able to bring to the table, and have several senior management staff champions, the HOME Award to honor our outstanding medical assistants throughout the organization, and we rolled it out last year. Not many other organizations champion for their employees the way WDH does. It makes me proud of where I work.

What would you say to someone who is considering applying to work here?

Just do it! To be part of culture that values you, where people know your name at all levels, and where you can grow in your chosen career- that doesn't exist a lot of places.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I am blessed to work where I do. We get to watch people take their lives back and begin to live again better than they have in many years. To watch self-confidence bloom in them and to see the pride in all that they have accomplished. Yeah, we cry happy tears here at the Center for Weight Management.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

My dream was always to become a bestselling author - still working on that first book at 53 years of age. Who knows, maybe someday.

What is your favorite band and/or favorite song of all time?

I worked in the concert security field for over 15 years and have seen hundreds of acts. It is hard to choose a favorite. Songs - I have 2 that stand out. "What a wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong and "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen always make me stop and listen and reflect on all that I have and have done in my life.

What is your proudest moment?

The day I become "Dad.” The best title I will ever carry. Watching my children grow, learn, and become amazing adults. That is what it is truly all about.

Who is your hero?

My hero didn't wear a cape or have a superpower. He was my grandfather and he taught me how to be true to myself, that my word was sacred and people should be able to trust me at my word, a handshake is more binding than any contract, how to laugh at almost anything, how to smile at everyone because you never know who truly needs that smile today, and to care for others without expectation of anything in return.
